Statistics from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention identify that 1 in 110 American children are on the Autism Spectrum. This is a 600 percent increase in prevalence over the past two decades. More children will be diagnosed with autism this year than with childhood cancer, juvenile diabetes or pediatric AIDS combined. These startling statistics have significant implications for school districts and administrators need to be proactively prepared to address the unique needs of these students.
